New Patients

Intake Process

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is the gold standard treatment for a specific sleep disorder, which is chronic insomnia. Not all patients with a sleep complaint have chronic insomnia, and not all patients with chronic insomnia are good candidates for CBT-I.

Before initiating treatment, we will do a comprehensive insomnia assessment to determine whether CBT-I is right for you. This assessment includes completion of standardized questionnaires and daily sleep diaries; consultation with your referring physician and review of records, if applicable; and a one-hour clinical interview via our secure telehealth platform. At the end of this interview, we will give you feedback about whether our program is likely to be a good fit for you. If not, we will make recommendations on the next steps for your care.

Our Fees

Initial assessment: $350

Individual treatment session (45 minutes): $225

A typical course of CBTI is about 4 to 6 treatment sessions total, depending on your treatment goals.

Our services may be available at a reduced rate for clients who are working with our postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Dr. Danforth. Please let us know if you are interested in one of our reduced fee slots.

Health Insurance

We are not an “in-network” provider for any health insurance. We will collect payment from you for each visit at the time of service. If you have an FSA or HSA, you can use this to pay for treatment. In many cases, your insurance company will also reimburse a portion of your out-of-network health care expenses. At the end of each month, we will provide you with an invoice called a “superbill” that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.

We strongly suggest you contact your insurance provider prior to your first visit to confirm your out-of-network mental health coverage.  Important questions to ask are:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • Do I have a deductible?
  • What is your reimbursement rate for out-of-network providers?

Treatment procedure codes most often used in CBT-I are 90791 (Diagnostic Interview) and 90834 (Individual Therapy, 45 minutes).

Medicare

This practice does not accept Medicare and has signed an agreement to be excluded from the Medicare program. This means that we will not bill Medicare–and Medicare will not pay–for the services you receive. You are responsible for the entire cost of your care, and our fees will be due in full at the time of your appointment.

If you are a Medicare patient, we will provide you with a private contract describing our fees and confirming that you understand that you are responsible for the full cost of your care and that Medicare will not reimburse you.
